Misdiagnosed and Misunderstood: Our Team Leads the Conversation

We are proud to congratulate Jean Tidd and Holly Mills on their presentation at the Central Ohio Mental Health Professionals Luncheon on September 18th.

Jean and Holly presented on a topic that sits at the heart of what we do: “Misdiagnosed and Misunderstood: ADHD, RSD, and Diagnostic Clarity.”

Why this topic matters

ADHD is one of the most common and most misunderstood neurodevelopmental conditions in clinical practice.

Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria, or RSD, adds another layer of complexity. RSD is an intense emotional response to perceived or actual rejection or criticism that is strongly associated with ADHD but rarely identified correctly.

For many people with ADHD, RSD is actually the most impairing part of their experience, quietly shaping relationships, career choices, and self-worth in ways that can be devastating when left unnamed.

What Jean and Holly brought to the room

Jean Tidd, a member of the CHADD National Board of Directors, has spent her career at the intersection of clinical practice and ADHD advocacy, and her understanding of how ADHD actually shows up in real people’s lives is both deep and practical.

Holly Mills brings a background that spans education and direct clinical work with individuals and families navigating ADHD across the lifespan. Her perspective on how ADHD intersects with systems, schools, and support structures adds a dimension to this conversation that is rarely present in purely clinical settings.

Together they brought a presentation that was grounded in current research, shaped by years of direct client experience, and delivered to a room full of mental health professionals who left better equipped to serve their clients.

What this means for you

When you work with our team, you are working with clinicians who are not just practicing in this space. They are actively shaping how the broader community understands it.

If you have ever felt misdiagnosed, misunderstood, or like the explanations you have been given do not quite fit your experience, we would love to talk. You deserve a provider who actually gets it.
