Therapy for Teens, Kids and Children
Support for big feelings at home, at school, and beyond
we offer thoughtful, developmentally appropriate therapy
At Holistic Consultation, we offer thoughtful, developmentally appropriate therapy for teens, kids and children as young as five. We help kids with big feelings build coping skills, and feel more confident at home, at school, and with peers.
We also support parents who are feeling tired, unsure, or overwhelmed and with schools to support your child’s growth. You do not have to figure this out alone.
How therapy can help
Kids of all ages may benefit from therapy when you notice:
Big feelings, frequent meltdowns, or shutdowns
Anxiety, worries, or fears
Difficulty at school or school avoidance
Trouble with focus, attention, or impulse control
Challenges with friendships or social skills
Low confidence or negative self-talk
Changes after stress, loss, or major life transitions
Sometimes parents reach out because something “just doesn’t feel right.” That’s enough reason to ask for support.
Our Approach
Teens, kids and children communicate differently than adults. Therapy should meet them where they are.
Our clinicians use gentle, evidence-based, and trauma-informed approaches that may include play, movement, creativity, and skill-building. Sessions are structured but flexible, allowing teens, kids and children to feel safe and understood.
We focus on:
Emotional regulation and coping skills
Understanding thoughts, feelings, and behaviors
Building confidence and self-awareness
Supporting attention, organization, and flexibility when needed
Therapy is not about “fixing”. It’s about helping to feel capable, supported, and understood.

Support for parents and caregivers
Many parents come to us feeling exhausted, worried, or unsure if they are doing the “right” things. That is very common.
We work collaboratively with parents by:
Offering guidance you can actually use at home
Helping you better understand your teen, kid or child’s needs
Reducing power struggles and daily stress
Supporting you through school or behavior concerns
We support your child's success
Collaboration with schools
When helpful and appropriate, we collaborate with schools to support your child’s success.
This may include:
Helping parents think through school concerns
Supporting communication with teachers or school staff
Providing guidance related to emotional or behavioral needs
Assisting with understanding accommodations or supports
Our goal is to help teens, kids and children feel supported across settings, not just in the therapy room.
What to expect at the first appointment
The first session is designed to feel welcoming and low pressure.
We will:
Learn about your child’s strengths and challenges
Listen to your concerns and goals
Explain how therapy works for children
Begin building trust with your child at their pace
Some teens, kids and children talk right away. Others take time. Both are okay.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if my teen, kid or child really needs therapy?
If your big emotions, behaviors, or stress are affecting daily life at home or school, therapy can help. You do not need to wait for things to feel “serious.”
Will I be involved in my teen, kid or child’s therapy?
Yes. Parent support and communication are an important part of therapy. The level of involvement depends on your child’s age and needs.
What if my teen, kid or child doesn’t want to come to therapy?
That is very common. Our therapists are experienced in helping teens, kids and children feel comfortable and safe without forcing conversation or participation.
Do you work with schools?
Yes, when appropriate and with parent consent. We aim to support teens, kids and children across environments and help parents navigate school-related concerns.
How long does therapy last?
Every person is different. Some teens, kids and children benefit from short-term support, while others may need longer-term care. We regularly review progress and goals with families.
Do you accept insurance?
We accept many commercial insurance plans. Our intake team can help verify benefits and answer questions.
