Mental Health Awareness Starts Early. Here’s How We’re Making It Happen

On February 25th, two of our Troy-based therapists took our mission into the community.

Jasmine Spradley and Holly Mills presented to approximately 600 seventh and eighth graders at Troy Junior High School’s Mental Health Wellness Day. Their message was simple and powerful: the everyday choices we make, the way we notice the people around us, and the small actions we take all have real impact, on ourselves and on others.

That’s social awareness. That’s accessibility. And that’s exactly the kind of conversation middle schoolers need to be having.

What does this mean for our clients and community?

At Holistic Consultation, we believe mental health care doesn’t start in a therapy office. It starts in classrooms, hallways, and lunchrooms. It starts when a young person learns to recognize what they’re feeling, to see others with empathy, and to understand that asking for help is a strength, not a weakness.

When our clinicians show up in schools, they’re planting seeds. Some of those students will remember that conversation years from now. Some may reach out for support sooner because someone made it feel safe. That’s the work we’re here for.

Thank you to Jasmine and Holly for representing Holistic Consultation with such care and intention. And thank you to Troy Junior High for creating space for this conversation.

This is what community mental health looks like.
